It is one of the best tracks from this album. I particularly like Sukhwinder’s high pitched notes in this song. Also beginning tabla bits are awesome. The middle quawali piece is fantastic…Only, English words interspersed between song are sometime looks offbeat. I feel if they use Hindi words, it would be better…
3. Ajnabi Sheher Hai:-
Initial tune reminds me ‘Titanic’. Music arrangements are fantastic. Its Sonu Nigam all the way once again.
4. Sau Dard Hain:-
This is my favourite song from this album. “Sau Dard Hain….Sau Rahaten…Sab Mila Dilnashin…Ek Tu Hi Nahin…”. Sonu has once again proved it, he is the number one singer and sung it from the bottom of heart. It definitely touches you….
5. Ud jana:-
It is a boring song…Don’t waste time downloading and listening to this song…I really hate this number.

I really like this song…and hook line is really very catchy. Whenever I listen to this song it comes in my mind why do they need to add English words in this song? It feels really odd. If they use Urdu or Hindi words it would be better.
There is one line in the song ‘Jane ke Jane na’
“Tu agar jo khun se kate hira bhi kat jayega
Akh bhar ke dekhale jo bulb bhi fat jayega”
I really wonder why director need such line ? Is it situational demand? I don’t know but such a beautiful song is blemished with such offbeat English words…
This is not a shayari contest. This is just a movie. Even greats like Majrooh Sultanpuri and Naushad have used words from English. What do you have against English that you look down upon songs with English words? Frankly, I don’t see anything wrong with using English words in Hindi movie songs. Remember – it’s just a movie song!!

Its just an opinion that it sounds odd. I have no idea how that translates as “having anything against english..”.
I like purity of language. Especially when it is a song which (atleast I) expect to be bit poetic.
Using hindi words in eglish songs (bollywood english songs) and english words in hindi songs kind of amuses me.
agreed common man hindi itself is not pure and we knowingly or unknowingly use lot of english words\phrases..
but some usages are really funny depending on the context..I felt singing ‘tu mera future hai..’ was ridiculously funny…because there are common hindi alternatives for that..
I haven’t heard this song and don’t plan to, but the funniest use of an English word that I’ve heard was in another one of Gulzar’s songs – the Chhote Chhote Sheheron mein song from Bunty and Bubbly (and Amitabh) where a couple of English words pop up from nowhere.

We are not looking down on the song just because of English words. I like the songs with English line eg. ‘I love you for what you are’.
I like the songs with interspersed English words like ‘Title song of Munnabhai MBBS’ but it suits with the song…
However, here the song composition is so good and the intro line (or shayari) is really catchy but when you listen to these odd English words, the song can’t cast the effects that it deserse…
And I like the line, “All in all it’s just another brick in the wall.”
Good songs. Anu Malik has really worked hard here. But one thing. songs aren’t really Anu Malik ‘style’. Every composer has a style – preferred arrangements, melody patterns. don’t know why, but I felt as if AnuM is trying to create the SEL sound (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy). In fat, AnuM is trying to sound different since Yaadein – I couldn’t tell that was him.
But the change is definitely for the good. “Ajnabi Shahar Mein” is a nice composition sung really well by my fav singer Sonu Nigam.
Shashi, you have given me ideas now. Guess I will try a detailed ‘musical’ review of some songs myself

Songs do sound SEL type but its good move (at least for us..listeners). I think the similarity is of Orchestra…both use quite fresh Orchestraisation…

Well, the songs are done greatly. Has the melodious touch. But, while i was reading the reviews, most of them has comented about the lyrics. By reading them i am sure of one thing…none of them has seen the movie. Defenitely u will understand when u see the movie. I think, it was pretty good joke to include those words in the songs, since its mixes up with the moview very much.

None of my friends / relatives have liked Jaan-e-Man. But I have liked it very much . Clean / Beautiful / Salmaan at Hit Best looks / Good songs / Akshay – alway a Plus Point in any set up.
I was able to down loan Sau Dar song ( Winamp media file) and play it.
